First Inaugural Breitmeyer/White Snow & Curry Day

Well, today is a Snow Day! The skies are full of grey/white fluffy clouds, it freezing outside and it's already been 'flurrying'. The Tuscarora temperature is 3.5oC at noon. We woke up to a 'dump' of fresh snow completely covering the Rockies yesterday, and a forecast of a big snowstorm heading south to cover most of Alberta by tonight! They're expecting 15cm of snow in Calgary itself and 30cm of snow outside the city. Most of the white stuff should arrive over the afternoon and evening today, with more tomorrow and Monday, before it gets warmer (a balmy +6oC!) on Tuesday! Lucky we have got our snow boots/hats/gloves/fleeces/Columbia jackets already! We've grown to be a bit sceptical about the weather forecasts here, as they don't seem to be accurate at all for more than 2 days away, and there are often surprise changes in the forecast, but it's snowing right now in Edmonton and Red Deer, so it's really just a question of how far south the snow comes and when / how much we get.

Anyway, as today is a declared Snow Day, it also qualifies as the First Inaugural Breitmeyer/White Snow & Curry Day! We decided a while ago that the first weekend the snow came, we would have a day of curry-making / cooking / wine-drinking at Chateau Breitmeyer with Richard, Emma, Hanna and Benjamin (otherwise known as the H.E.R.B.s). We're heading up there at about 2:30pm and we'll be back whenever, snow allowing.

A nice curry!

More updates on our snow state tomorrow!
