Stormy Weather

Well, it's Wednesday of the week of the Big Flood and things are getting better. It's been dry most of the day, only a little rain on and off, and the river levels have stabilised. The residents of West Bragg Creek and High River were evacuated to higher ground last night and Highway 22 was closed at Millarville due to foot-deep water on the road. The main street of Okotoks was also underwater and the Old Man Dam was in danger of overflowing, but things seem to have improved at the folks in Bragg Creek managed to go home earlier on.

Simon and Sandy headed off downtown today on the LRT to do some shopping and it stayed dry for them all day! I took a few photos of our local flooding yesterday and a few more today, so here goes:

It's actually a stormwater drainage site...

Good for the plants

The 12-mile Coulee Walking & Mountain Biking Trail - now with added river!

Tuscany Developments - features include a raging torrent

Dry streets less than 24 hours later

Stormwater site today - that's some drainage!

In other news: Mrs White is on her way back to Cow-Town right now, and has hopefully just taken off from Toronto. And Sebastian's favourite colours are pink and lilac, and his favourite phrase is CRASH BANG!

Later,

J
